Tamara's new "TransMediterranean ensemble" takes you to another cross cultural contemporary jazz journey...
Tamara Obrovac takes us on another cross cultural contemporary jazz journey connecting her particular musical tradition of Istria (Croatia) with sounds of Arabic chants from Morocco and Armenian folk tradition, creating new, vivid musical landscape.
This dynamic cross border musical tale is rooted in author songs inspired by particular ethnic traditions connected with jazz improvisation, uniting different sounds, genres and musical handwritings ; exspresive voice of Tamara Obrovac, lute and violon played by Moroccan Brahim Dhour, passionate piano of Armenian Karen Asatrian, imbued with inventive phrasing of Wolfgang Puschnig's saxophone and flute.
This excellent musicians joined forces with creative rhythm section from Tamara's Transhistria ensemble, (Kruno Levačić drums, Žiga Golob double bass), blending their musical mastery, intense emotional approach and their passionate live performances and energy into transmediterranean, transcultural, and at the same time archaic and contemporary musical landscape.
